The Russian geographical society (RGS) was founded on the highest command of Emperor Nicholas I in 1845. The stamp depicts the emblem of the Russian geographical society. In addition to the postage stamp the FSUE PTC “Mark” made the first day cover and stamps first day covers Moscow and St. Petersburg.
