Chapultepec castle was founded in 1785, at the initiative of the Viceroy Bernardo de Gálvez. Since 1864 the Emperor Maximilian of Mexico began to use the Palace as a country residence. Later in the Palace there is the astronomical Observatory, until 1939 it was used as a presidential residence. Currently, the Chapultepec castle is administered by the National Museum of history.
