Description
Pavel Silaev (1916 - 1942) - military counterintelligence of the black sea fleet, a Junior officer, the participant of defense of Sevastopol, died at blasting German marching staff. In the days of the Sevastopol defence force ensured the evacuation of the command of the fleet from Chersonesos airfield - assisted the command in organizing the protection of military vehicles and aircraft. By 3 July 1942, the last defenders of Sevastopol went to the coastal cliffs, however, a Nazi patrol managed to capture M. P. Silaeva. Escorted him together with his wife were in the German camp headquarters. And then a Junior political officer detonated explosive devices in the pockets of his trousers.In the place of his death today is a monument, near which in the memorable days meet military counterintelligence officers and sailors of the black sea fleet.
